Madeleine’s Obituary
Long time resident of Peace River, Madeleine Melanie Paul, passed away Sunday, October 13 at the age of 95 years. Madeleine was the youngest child born January 28, 1924 to Swiss immigrants Francoise and Leopold Genoud on a homestead in Charron Lake, Alberta. She settled in the Peace Country as a new bride to Barry Paul in 1957 where they raised their four children.
Madeleine was a dedicated mother and wife who was known for her hospitality, culinary talents, and seamstress skills. She was an active member of the CWL in Peace River, and gave many years of service to Catholic Education as a member of the Peace River Catholic School Board, Alberta Education Council, and the National Board of Education.
Madeleine was predeceased by her loving husband Barry in 2013, sister Christine Bossel, and brothers Victor and John Genoud. She will be greatly missed by her four children John (Harriet), Carol (James), Michelle, and Donna (Randy), along with her fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Prayer Service will be held at 9:00 pm on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
