Lillian Jean Aykroyd (Huntington)

Lillian Jean Aykroyd passed away peacefully in her 106th year at Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg on October 28th, 2019. She was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. She married Ellwood G Aykroyd (deceased in 1976) in 1940. She worked as a secretary for A. J. Barlow Construction for many years. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Church in Sudbury and her faith had held her over the years. She enjoyed travelling and some of her favorite trips took her to Africa, Europe and England. She loved reading and when her sight failed her she spent many hours listening to books on tape. Twenty years ago she moved to Niagara Falls to be with her daughter Patricia Palmer and family and then ten years ago to Tillsonburg with her son Bob and his wife Gloria (Silc). For the past four years and a half years she has lived in Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg. Dear daughter of the late William B. and Janet Huntington; dear sister of the late William Huntington, Fay Norris, and Edgar Huntington of Sudbury. Loving mother of Robert “Bob” (Gloria) Aykroyd of Tillsonburg, Patricia Palmer of Niagara Falls; beloved grandmother of Vanessa Aykroyd (Simon Swoboda) of St. Catharines, Meredith (David) Armstrong of London and Laura Dodman (Brad) of Niagara Falls; great-grandmother of Silas, Liam and Harper. Family are deeply appreciative of the staff at Woodingford Lodge for all of their acts of kindness over the years while providing her with the most excellent care. To have the gift of her in our lives for such a full lifetime, we are blessed. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. To honor her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Sudbury, Ontario.
