Joseph Edward Doyle
March 25, 1943 – October 30, 2019
Passed peacefully away at his home in Torbay, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, Joseph Edward Doyle, in his 76th year. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Harriette Doyle, father and mother-in-law Gregory and Rita O’Rielly; four brothers Stephen, Mac, Jimmy and Paddy; friend Bill Rees. Left with an abundance of wonderful memories are his wife of 51 years, Genevieve “Gen”, daughter Joanne (Ronald), son Brian (Megan) and his three little grandsons whom he dearly adored, Ryan, Owen and Zachary. Also leaving to mourn his sisters Agnes Rablin (John), Washington; Helen Kirby (Bob), Florida; Lorraine Webber (Mark), Ontario; Laura McCabe (Martin), Alberta; and Theresa Scott; brothers Peter (Isobel), Johnny (Ros), Eddie (Valjean), Michael and Gilbert, Alberta; sisters-in-law Bernie Dunne (Bob), Sheila Dunne (Steve), Ontario; Norma O’Rielly (Charlie), Ontario; brothers-in-law Loyola (Eileen), Greg (Betty), Kevin (Beth) and Len (Alice); many nieces and nephews, special friends and card playing buddies Paula Rees, Doug Matchim, Ruby Simpson and Marie Skiffington. Joe was an active member of the Fifties Plus Club in Portugal Cove-St. Philips where he went every week to enjoy his favorite pastime, a good game of cards among friends. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 56) where he enjoyed playing darts for the last fifteen years.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, TORBAY, on Thursday from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 10 a.m. from Holy Trinity Church, Torbay. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Lung Association.
