Jean Taylor Sunday October 13th 2019

It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Jean, our dear grandmother and aunt at Deer Lodge Centre on October 13, 2019.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her grandson Gordon Taylor (Nicolette Jaman), nieces Aileen, Heather, and Joanne, nephew Robert and their families, and by cousin Phyllis (George Taylor). She was predeceased by her loving husband of 76 years, Ronald A., son Ronald W., and her parents James and Constance McCullough.
Jean was born on January 8, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She married in 1942 and had one son Ron. Jean’s life revolved around family, sports, and the cottage at Balsam Bay. Many summers of family get togethers at Balsam Bay were highlights for her and everyone present. Jean was the Canadian Pairs Champion of Roller Dance Skating with partner Scotty Penman. She also received trophies for Straight Skating, Ten Step, Fourteen Step, and Waltz. She participated in many roller skating shows, demonstrations, and competitions throughout North America. After her athletic career, she followed her son Ronnie’s hockey and fastball careers. Jean also loved her Jets, Bombers, and Bluejays. She never missed watching a televised game. She also loved road trips including travelling to Red Lake, the Crowduck, Kirkland Lake, and Chicago to visit extended family. She was an avid photographer and videographer and enjoyed spending time outside tending to her flowers. Gram always made sure her one and only grandson Gordon received weekly care packages of spaghetti sauce and Scottish mince. Her caring nature extended beyond her family to supporting all the causes that sent her a plea for funds, and there were many. She will be deeply missed.
Thank you to the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for their compassionate and exceptional care of Jean, and to Jonathan and the team from the Deer Lodge End of Life Companion Program.
A private interment at Brookside Cemetery is planned. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jean’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
