Florence Marie Hersey
1947-2019
Florence Marie (Burbidge) Hersey – age 72, of
Greenwich, Kings County, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at
home. Born on June 3, 1947 in Middleton, Annapolis County, she was a
daughter of the late Stewart and Margaret Ruth (Young) Burbidge. She
was a graduate of Middleton Regional High School and later studied
nursing at Payzant Memorial, Windsor. She received her Nursing
Administration from Dalhousie University and an Honours Degree in
Psychology from Acadia University. She had been employed for 29 years
at the former Nova Scotia Sanatorium, the former Blanchard Fraser
Memorial Hospital and the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She
also worked with the Nova Scotia Department of Health as the manager
of the Hospital Information System and the Canadian Institute for
Health Information, Ottawa. She was a certified member of the Canadian
College of Health Services Executives and the Nova Scotia College of
Nurses. She is survived by a son, Christopher; two brothers, Reverend
Robert (Marie) Burbidge and Allen (Wanda) Burbidge; sister-in-law,
Ruth (Reg) Newell; grandchildren, Bronwyn Ann and Matthew Loran;
several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Loran
and daughter, Angela. Cremation has taken
place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service,
followed by a reception, will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday,
November 2, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend
Leon Langille officating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove
Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to Diabetes
Canada and the Canadian Mental Health Association of Kings County.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
