Delphine’s Obituary
DOUCETTE, Delphine Marie – age 95, Little River Harbour, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born August 31, 1924 in Hubbard’s Point, she was a daughter of the late Rémi and Delphine (Doucette) Hubbard. The wife of a lighthouse keeper on Candlebox Island for 18 years, Delphine went on to work at Cosmos Imperial Mills, Villa St. Joseph and as a fish processor. She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, knitting and diamond painting. She is survived by her children, Alton Doucette (Sandy), Melbourne; Harvey Doucette (Theresa) and Doreen Randall, both of Little River Harbour; Danette Doucette, Truro. She also loved all of her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Mildred Doucette, Yarmouth; Linda Burke, Sluice Point and Celeste Dastous, Hamilton, ON. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Doucette, as well as by a daughter, Donna Surette; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Doucette; brothers, Leslie in infancy, Alvin, Louie, John, Raymond, Paul, Adolphe and Bernard; sisters Zeta and Helen. Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m. Friday, with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 2, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Parish Cemetery, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau. It has been requested that there be family flowers only.
