She was born April 16, 1939 in Fort Macleod; passed away on September 26, 2019 in the Claresholm General Hospital at the age of 80 years.
Thelma was predeceased by her parents, one brother, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law and two grandsons.
Survived by her siblings Kornie Smit, Jake Smit and Lena Caldwell; sister-in-law Joan Van Waardhuizen; her sons Grant (Jeanette) and Jim (Jackie); daughters Sherri Deurloo, Lori (John) Van Eck, and Suellen (Neal) Konynenbelt; grandsons Cameron, Lyndon & Graham Van Eck, Paul, Ted & Jeff Deurloo, Chris & Ben Deurloo; granddaughter Kari (Steven) Kapteyn; great-granddaughter Emery and great-grandson Colton; 3 nephews and 2 nieces.
Thelma was a loving and caring person who was always ready to help if asked. She was very active in her church, starting when she began playing the pump organ for services at age 15. She loved singing in the choir, volunteered in the church library, was very active in a ladies’ bible study/service group, was janitor for a few years, and typed/printed the church’s bulletin for over 35 years. She especially loved working in her garden and doing handicrafts and jigsaw puzzles when time permitted.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Granum Christian Reformed Church – AB-519 & Range Rd 260, Granum, Alberta on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Henry Veldboom officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Claresholm Hospital Foundation – Box 2863, Claresholm, AB T0L 0T0
