Norman Gerald Fleetwood

In Loving Memory Of
Norman Gerald Fleetwood
With great sadness in our hearts we said goodbye to Norman Gerald Fleetwood, of Grande Prairie, AB, on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Prairie Lake Hospice, at the age of 76 years.
Gerry “Fleet” Fleetwood was born April 1, 1943 in Newport, Wales. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1952 at the age of 9. While attending high school in Surrey, BC, he met his first wife, Wendy, and became a father at a young age to his daughter, Margaret. After completing high school, they married, and he began working for CN railway. When offered a position with a drafting firm, Gerry began his long and prolific career of designing, building, and creating. During that time, his son, Robin was born.
In 1967, Gerry moved to Calgary, AB, with his family, to ski the fabled slopes, build guns, and raise Dobermans, all while continuing to work as a draftsman. In 1972, Gerry separated from Wendy. After meeting his second wife, Ann, they married and moved to Grande Prairie, AB, where he became a farmer, hunter, business owner, and had his youngest daughter, Jane. Ann and Gerry separated in 1984.
Gerry met his Margie in 1986 who helped him fulfil his cowboy dreams. They spent two years together before going their separate ways. Gerry met his third wife, Ruby, in 1988 and, with their marriage in 1990, Gerry’s family grew to include Brent, Shauna, and Jason. Gerry and Ruby were married for 27 years before her passing in 2017. Gerry and Margie rediscovered their love and were married in 2019. They lived together with her son Robbie, who was a tremendous support to Gerry in his final days. Gerry and Margie traveled the world and held each other’s hearts until the cowboy rode away on August 25, 2019.
It would be much simpler to list what Gerry Fleetwood did not accomplish in his lifetime. He was a man who lived life large; he fiercely pursued his passions, friendships, and thirst for knowledge. To name only a very few, he flew and built planes, hit one hell of golf ball, was a champion trap shooter, was proud of his children, and loved to be in love.
Gerry Fleetwood is survived by his loving wife Margie; children: Margaret (Mark), Robin (Gitte), Jane (Rich), Brent (Jackie), Shauna, and Jason (Sharon); grandchildren: Rebecca, Jamie, Mads, Kevin, Paige, Nathan, Megan (Dan), Cody (Kacie), Kristopher (Annalise), Faryn (Jay), Connor and Sydney. He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, extended family, and his many, many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Florence Fleetwood, brother Martin Stanley Fleetwood, and his wife, Ruby Fleetwood.
The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019, at 1:00pm Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). A farewell toast will follow at 4:00pm, at the Crown & Anchor Pub (8022 100 St.).
In lieu of flowers, donations to Grande Prairie Home Care (Virene Bldg 10121 97 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0N5) would be greatly appreciated

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Norman Gerald Fleetwood..
