Obituary for
Kennard Eugene Baker
Kennard Baker
1939-2019
Passed peaceably at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on September 20 at the age of 79. Husband to Carol and father to Evan (Lisa), and Ryan (Tracie), and proud papa to Liam. Kennard was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Janet and his brother Keith.
Born in Maymont, Saskatchewan, Kennard grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, eventually graduating from McMaster University with a degree in geology. After graduating, Kennard worked in a number of remote areas of Canada including Baffin Island and Northern Quebec. In 1965, having met in Pickle Crow, Ontario, Kennard married Carol and they settled in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Kennard returned to school to become a chartered accountant, and spent the rest of his career as an accountant before co-owning a construction company.
A quiet and unassuming man, Kennard enjoyed spending time at the cottage and outdoors, and working with Carol to train their Labrador Retrievers. After the birth of their grandson, Kennard and Carol moved to Kemptville in order to be closer to family and especially Liam.
