Gordon Arnold Calder

CALDER, Gordon Arnold- Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at the Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Hogg) Calder of 56 years. Loving father of Gary Calder and his wife Karen, Carolyn Leonard and her husband Mark Martens. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy (Meghan), Ryan, and Carina. Loving brother to Margaret Baigent (Ed) and brother-in-law to Ed Hogg. Gord was a long-time member of the Lions Club and volunteered as a firefighter with the Thamesford Fire Department. He is also known for being active in the local farming community. Upon retirement, he worked for the Harland Betzner Funeral Home. Gord will be missed by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 177 Dundas St., Thamesford (519-285-2427) Friday, September 20, 2019, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The service will be held at the Thamesford Community Centre on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at the Zion Hill 7th Line Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society Oxford or to the V.O.N of Oxford and may be arranged through the Funeral Home.
