Dina Chomyshyn

Obituary of Dina Chomyshyn
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Dina Chomyshyn (nee Zanatta) on Wednesday, September 26, 2019 at the Georgetown Hospital at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Harry Chomyshyn of Sudbury and parents Eugenio and Amabile (Parolin) Zanatta. Beloved mother of Linda Fioravanti (predeceased) and Chloe Romanet (husband Dennis Romanet of Georgetown). Greatly loved and very proud Nonna Dina to Cameron and Natalie. Cherished sister to Albino Zanatta (Eleanor) of Fort Erie, Severo Zanatta (Louisa) of Sudbury, Frank Zanatta (Lorraine) of Copper Cliff, Eugene Zanatta (Marilyn) of Waterloo, and Allan Zanatta (Grace) of Brighton. Predeceased by treasured friend, John Durjancik. Missed by many nieces and nephews and numerous loyal friends.
Born and raised in Coniston, Ontario, Dina was the only girl in the family along with five brothers whom she loved dearly. Her intelligence, ability to learn languages and keen organizational skills earned her great respect and carried her through many rewarding jobs such as court reporter, translator, teacher, and legal and administrative secretary. Throughout the years her strong love and commitment to her family shone through, especially for her two daughters and two grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. Dina was a very social person with a great sense of humour and strong connections to people. She was always happy to make new acquaintances and to help others. Dina was a loyal friend to many. Spending time with family and friends, as well as her love of travel, reading and ballroom dancing brought her great joy.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jacobus Vanbendegem and Dr. Barbara Clive for their great compassion, expertise and care, as well as to the many dedicated nurses and staff members at both Mountainview Residence and Halton Hills Extendicare who cared for Dina during her years in Georgetown. Your smiles, laughter and hugs always made Dina’s day.
Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
