Obituary for
Clara Blanche Teressa Pratt
On September 25th, 2019, Clara Blanche Teressa Pratt, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 87. She was born on August 4th, 1932 in Belmont, N.S, daughter of the late Alfred and Pearl Mae (Morrissey) Lindsay. Besides her parents, Clara was predeceased by her husband, Irvin Pratt; sister Elsie (Steve) Eagles and brothers John and Samuel Lindsay. She is survived by her children, Murray, Sandra Dee and Teressa (Marcel Laforest); her grandchildren, Matthew and Madeleine Laforest (both her pride and joy); her brothers Dexter (Barbara) and Russell (Anne). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
She worked at Lamont’s Nursing home until it closed and then, in 1983, began her own, “Clara’s Rest Home” for 10 years which she thoroughly enjoyed. She continued to support others throughout the remainder of her life with her care and loving friendship. She was a longtime volunteer and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Legion #26, Truro, a keen dart player with the Hubtown Mixed Dart League, a great card player and a fierce supporter (along with Sandra Dee) of the Penguins (particularly #87). She loved sewing and was a talented baker; well known for her “pies, rolls and biscuits” which she generously shared.
Many thanks to the nurses and Drs. (Kelly and MacDonald) in the ER, Colchester Hospital as well as the VON who assisted her daughter Sandra Dee who was her primary caregiver and best friend.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 beginning with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26 Ladies Auxiliary Tribute at 2:00pm followed by a memorial service in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Reception will follow the service. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, Ladies Auxiliary Truro Legion #26 or the Red Cross.
