Bill passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Perley and Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre, Ottawa on Tuesday August 27th 2019 in his 97 year. He was predeceased in 2014 by his beloved wife of 68 years, Kathleen D. (Bradford) Lea. Bill was the loved and respected father of Stephen (Barbara) Lea, Jennifer (Robert) Young and Cindy (Tom) Larocque. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Angela and James, Bradley and Kimberly, Janessa and Evan, his great grandchildren Hayden, Harrison, Meah and Bradley, and all his Canadian and British family and many good friends. Bill was predeceased by his brothers Howard (Christine) Lea and George (Joan) Lea and Francis (Fred) Caldwell. Bill was a World War ll Veteran serving with the Royal Canadian Engineers in Holland and Belgium, while on training and leave in England met and married his War Bride Kathleen. In his retirement years Bill was an active member of the Perth Kiwanis Club, the Legion and the Rideau Lakes Power Squadron. Bill enjoyed a long career at the Ontario Vocational Centre in Ottawa, which later became Algonquin College, as the founding teacher of the Survey and Mapping Department. Bill’s contribution to the program was celebrated during the 50th Anniversary of Algonquin College in 2017, which he was able to attend with his family. Friends and family will join together for a funeral service to be held in St. James Anglican Church, 41 Drummond St. E., Perth on Saturday September 7th, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Bill and Kathleen will be laid to rest together in Elmwood Cemetery, Perth. A reception will follow the service in the Church fellowship hall. Those wishing to do so may consider a memorial donation to St. James Anglican Church, Perth.
