William “Bill”‘s Obituary
LEWIS, William “Bill” Leroy ~ age 82 of East Kingston, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in Gaspereau. Born in Campbellton, NB, he was the son of the late Leroy and Ruth (Abrams) Lewis. Bill attended Acadia University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master’s Degree in Geology and went to work for Canadian (Fundy) Gypsum in Windsor. Bill left there after a time to teach and taught Chemistry at the Nova Scotia Technical College and at West Kings High School. After his years of teaching, Bill returned to Canadian (Fundy) Gypsum, where he worked until he retired at age 50 due to health concerns. His work as a geologist involved travelling across Canada, as well as to other countries, such as Costa Rica and Mexico to name a few. With his health concerns, Bill took an active part in managing his heart health by attending cardiac classes at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He loved sports and played hockey and baseball in his younger years and refereed basketball games across the Annapolis Valley. Bill loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, and bird watching, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Just last week Bill and his wife, Beverley (Hutchinson) celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary! He will be deeply missed, not only by Beverley, but by his son, Peter (Beverly Foster), Gaspereau; grandchildren, Jacob, Lauryn, Taylor, Haileigh, Dylan and Natalie; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his sister, Dorothy (William) Lochtie, California. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by son, Brian Lewis. In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 24th in the Middleton Funeral Home. 398 Main St., 902-825-3448 with Rev.
