Gimbel, Wally passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Southampton Hospital on Tuesday August 27, 2019. Walter Stuart Gimbel of Southampton and formerly of Ellengowan and Freeport, in his 89th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Dorothy Gimbel (nee Sherk) for almost 63 years. Proud and loving dad to his sons, John and his partner Diane Glebe, and James and his wife Leona De Jonge-Gimbel. Adored grandpa of Nicholas (Rachel) Gimbel, Mallory (Mark) Prokein, and Matthew De Jonge. Admired great grandpa to Jaxson & Brooke Gimbel, Tyla, Olivia & Easton Prokein. Wally will be remembered by his sister Helen Weber and by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Harold & Luida (nee Shantz) and his stepmother Annie (nee Brubacher), and by his brother-in-law Lawrence. A Funeral Service to Celebrate the Life of Wally Gimbel will be held at the Knox United Church, Paisley on Friday August 30, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. A time of reception will follow at the church. Interment at Douglas Hill Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, or to the charity of your choice.
