Passed away peacefully at the Élisabeth Bruyère Residence, on the morning of Thursday,
August 29, 2019. In her 87 th year, Patricia was the beloved wife and unfailing support of the late William James Carroll. Loving mother of Marie Mortensen (Brockville), Anita Bélanger (Ottawa), Fred (Renfrew), Catherine McNaughton (Portland) Dolores (Lori) Carroll (Ottawa), John (Ottawa) and deceased infant daughter, Patricia Kathleen. Dear grandmother to Michael, Christina, David, Patricia, Matthew, Daniel, Meara, Patrick, Byron, Sarah, Robert, Rebecca, Christine, Henry and Calliope. Cherished great-grandmother of eleven. Dear daughter of the late John F Costello and the late Elizabeth O’Neill. Dear sister of Gabrielle Dainow of Newry, NI and Frances Kerr of Sequim, WA; pre-deceased by brother John and sisters Betty Gibson and Rita Lofland. Beloved “Aunt Patsy” to her many nieces and nephews. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Patricia came to the U.S. in 1952 as a young bride, later emigrating with her family to Canada. In addition to being a devoted mother of seven, she worked for many years as a legal secretary. A faithful Catholic her entire life, she was generous soul whose charitable disposition was manifest in every facet of her life. She volunteered tirelessly for Action Life of Ottawa and later for Beth Donovan Hospice of Kemptville. During her many years at Holy Cross Church in Kemptville, she found great succor in parish life and especially in the
weekly bible study. In her final years, Patricia suffered from Alzheimer’s with its many complications and from heart disease. In keeping with her lifelong discipline, she endured her sufferings with grace and an abiding faith in the mercy of God. The family is grateful to the dedicated staff and volunteers at the Montfort Hospital, and to those at the Bruyère Residence. We also express our profound appreciation to Father Erik Deprey of St. Clement Parish, Ottawa and to Father Andrew Shim of Holy Cross, Kemptville for their pastoral care. Family and Friends are invited to visit the Kemptville Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 805 Prescott Street, Kemptville on Thursday, September 5th from 2 pm to 4 pm & 7 pm to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 505 Clothier Street West, Kemptville on Friday at 12 pm. Donations may be made to Beth Donovan Hospice or Action Life of Ottawa.
