Our mom a woman with a heart of gold. Who would do without so you didn’t have to. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. A woman who loved her family and loved spending time with them. She loved to cook and bake, if someone was walking up the road while she had fresh baked cookies, they were sure to get one while passing by the house. She would always try feeding you, 5 or 6 times even though you only stopped in for a visit, no one ever left her place hungry, because she never took no for an answer, and before you knew it there would be a plate of something placed in front of you. She could cook up anything using only salt and pepper, for seasoning and have it taste awesome; she could skin a rabbit in a blink of an eye, and made the best smoked salmon. Over the years she passed many of her skills on to others. She was not only a mom to the 9 of us, but a mom to lots of kid’s weather it was a niece, nephew or kids from the community. Where she was a cook, at the high school for many years. After the kids grew up and moved away they never forgot about her and the food she prepared for them at the cafeteria, especially the hamburgers, on the visits back to Sop’s Arm, they came to the retirement home to visit. They would tease her about how she should go out into the kitchen and cook up some hamburgers like her use to, or say I am hungry; you got any of those good burgers. It would sure put a smile on her face. She sure has touched the hearts and feed the mouths of many who will miss her dearly.
The family will be receiving family and friends at the Pentecostal Church in Sop’s Arm, NL, on Wednesday, August 14th, 2019 from the hours of 7-9 pm, and continuing on Thursday, August 15th, 2019, from the hours of 2-4 &-9 pm, where also the funeral service will take place from on Friday, August 16th, 2019 at 2:00 pm, with Rev Ed King officiating with the burial to follow at the family plot of the United Church Cemetery in Sop’s Arm, NL.
