William Wallace Elderslie Matthews, of Durham, passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Thursday, August 1st, 2019 in his 102nd year. Beloved husband of the late Florence (nee Patterson) and the late Margaret Narraway (nee Ralston). Loving father of Bill Matthews and his wife Maralee, Ron Matthews, Jim Matthews, Ruth and her husband David Murray, and Craig Matthews. Step-father of John and Donna Narraway, Christine and Robert Vanderniet, Margaret and Doug Potts, and Diane Moore. Cherished grandfather of Jeanette, Greg, Stacey, Chris, Jordan, and Fraser and great-grandfather of Ryan, Aiden, Charlie, and Sean. Predeceased by his brothers Irwin Matthews and Morris Matthews.

Friends may call at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Monday, August 5th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.
Celebration of Life::
A funeral service celebrating Wally’s life will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 193 Chester Street East, Durham on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery.
