Obituary of MARY ROWINSKI
MARY ROWINSKI
(nee KORZEPA)
Peacefully on August 25, 2019 in Winnipeg, at the age of 91, Mary passed.
She was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1988.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter Krys and husband Harold Laube and, twin grandchildren Ashleigh and Jon; son Rick and grandchildren Lucas and Madison.
Mary immigrated to Canada in 1947 and settled in Ninette, MB at the TB Sanatorium where she worked as a cook for many years. Family was always very important to Mary and she always wanted her family close. She sponsored her sister Helen and family and they settled in Brandon. She also sponsored her brother Stanley and family who settled in Winnipeg.
Mary moved to Winnipeg in the early 1950’s where she met Mike whom she married in 1957 at Holy Ghost Church. She loved spending time with her children and always found exciting events to take them to. (Folk Fest, Folkorama, fireworks and City Park) In her later years she purchased a cottage at Lester Beach and truly enjoyed spending her summers there. She especially enjoyed picking blueberries and became affectionately known as “Blueberry Mary”.
A special thank you is extended to the staff of Tuxedo Villa who provided excellent compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
A private family service was held.
