Mary Pauline Wardle 29 juin 1924 12 août 2019

Nécrologie
Passed away peacefully at the age of 95 with her son Cliff and daughter-in-law Debbie beside her.
Her family fled Slovenia before WWII, landing in Noranda Quebec where she grew up. At the ripe age of 16, her mother sent her to Toronto to learn a proper trade for a young woman, dressmaking. After learning her trade and working for a short time, she decided to lie about her age and at 17 joined the Air Force. She later sent a postcard to her mother to deliver the news. She ended up teaching wireless to pilots in Calgary and at the end of the war she worked in Ottawa receiving messages from overseas about the status of missing soldiers. After the war, she worked for a mining company at Marathon Ontario where she met her future husband Stan. They married and settled in Mississauga where they raised their son Cliff. Stan worked in food service industry until his death in a car accident in 1979. Pauline worked for the Federal Government as a computer data input clerk on new-fangled computers. They loved their weekends at the cottage in Huntsville. After retiring from the government, Pauline enjoyed travelling, especially south in the winter. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Helen Smuk and her brothers, Joseph (2), Ivan and Joseph (1) Smuk (passed away as a child).
Special memories of special friends Pola Burak and Jean Perry and her sister-in-law Shirley Smuk. She especially loved her daughter-in-law Debbie and her grandchildren, Greg and Rebecca. Alzheimer’s started taking away her memories in 2009 but her soul remained in place until her passing. Debbie had a special way with Pauline which eased dealing with the Alzheimer’s disease.
Also great thanks to other friends and family who supported Pauline and Cliff’s family during this sometimes difficult 10-year Alzheimer’s journey.
A final special thanks and love to the nurses and staff at the Granite Ridge Care Community. The kindness and care she received from them was like a loving family, and we are forever in their debt for loving her as a dear friend. She loved them back, very much.
A private Celebration of Life will be held by her immediate family.
