Joseph Peter Kurz

Obituary of Joseph Peter Kurz
KURZ, Joseph Peter
March 19, 1937 – August 25, 2019
Joe will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Heather and his four sons, Joel (Cathy), Scott (Diane), Mike (Tracey) and their daughter Bella, Jon (Heather) and their children Smith and Lexi. He is also survived by his sisters, Helene of Oakville, Ontario and Rose (Jerome) of Regina. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helene and his brother in-law/fishing companion Walter Sheremeta.
Joe was a man of simple pleasures, family, friends and home. He found much delight in being called Grandpa by Bella, Smith and Lexi and Uncle Joe by his numerous nieces and nephews. Joe’s lighthearted mischievous teasing will be missed and always remembered fondly by all.
Joe retired after 35 years with the Provincial Government. His interests were hunting, curling, and sports. He was a huge Rider fan. Joe curled with the Public Health league for 50 years. His travels took him and Heather across Canada visiting family from coast to coast. They took several trips to Europe, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Panama. But, Joe’s best trips of all were his yearly fishing adventures with close friends and family to Thompson’s Camps in Missinipe, Saskatchewan.
Special thanks to the first responders, STARS Air Ambulance, Saskatchewan Air Ambulance, the ICU staff at Regina General Hospital and Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. The family also extends thanks to Dr. Stephan Bester and Dr. Michael Kelly of Saskatoon for their outstanding care.
At Joe’s request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations to may be made to STARS Air Ambulance, 2640 Airport Road, Regina, SK S4W 1A6.
