John Murphy, of Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on August 12th, 2019 at the age of 81.
Born in Port Royal, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Hann) Murphy. He was a banker with TD Bank for 50 years, before moving to Miramichi where he and his wife opened King George Bed and Breakfast.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Sarah MacInnis; one daughter Cheryl (Phil) Nicols of Victoria, British Columbia; one son Matthew (Anita) of Caledon, Ontario; three sisters, Helen of St-John’s, Newfoundland, Theresa Murphy (Michael Kuryla), and Maureen Murphy, both of Ontario; four brothers, Stanislaus (Donna) of Oak Point, Adrian (Marcia) of St-John’s, Newfoundland, George (Donna) of Mesa, Arizona and Gerald (Georgina) of Lower Sackville; six grandchildren, Riley, Tristan, Mairin, Gabriella, Simon and Sabrina; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by a sister Marie.
There will be a gathering of friends at Northumberland Funeral Home on Saturday August 17th at 11 AM to celebrate John’s life, all are welcome to attend.
As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one’s choice.
