Jean-Paul Joseph Bourque

Jean-Paul known as Paul or JP by his family and numerous friends, passed away on August 17th, 2019 at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his family. Paul will forever be loved, remembered and missed by so many! He was sustained in all his endeavors by a strong Faith. Born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick. Paul had a lifelong love of family, friends, seafood and all sports. Paul his brothers and sister enjoyed growing up by the sea. When Paul joined the Army in 1960, he moved to Quebec City, where he met his wife Pierrette St-Pierre. They were married on August 11th, 1962, they just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. While Paul was serving he was a member of the Royal 22e Régiment and a guard at the Citadel in Quebec, as well, Paul did two tours of duty in Cyprus with the United Nations Peacekeepers. Their two daughters Josée and Nathalie were born and raised in Quebec and later Alberta. After leaving the army in 1971, Paul went on to work for ESSO Imperial, Westcan, Agrium in Coutts Alberta and later Bad Tattoo Brewing. When he retired, Paul wanted to be closer to family and play more golf which had become a true passion, so they moved to Penticton BC. Active and energetic, the other sports Paul enjoyed throughout his life were, baseball, tennis, boating and hunting. He also always enjoyed time with his animals. The last 16 years living in the Okanagan, whether he was spending time with family, enjoying an ice cream on the beach with his wife, attending Catholic mass on Sundays, listening to music in the summer or playing one of many rounds of golf with his son-in-law and friends at the Penticton Golf and Country Club, Paul always enjoyed life to the fullest and savored every minute. Paul encouraged helped and gave his time to everyone. Patient and kind he was always there when anything needed to be done or wherever he was needed. Paul always took pride in his work and the accomplishments of others. He knew the importance of just stopping to say hi. According to Paul “you should never take anything for granted, always try for a hole in one, do a job right, never take any wooden nickels and always say I love you!” Nous t’aimons beaucoup.
Jean-Paul was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Dora Bourque and brother Pierre (Raymonde). He is survived and remembered by his wife Pierrette Bourque, his daughters; Josée Balfour and Dean Ogden, Nathalie and Martin Lewis, his sister Jackie and Armand Doiron, his brothers; Robert and Simone Bourque, Michel Bourque (predeceased by Nancy). Paul is also remembered by his grand-daughters; Krystine Nemirovski and Josh Morrow, Amanda-Rae Lewis, his great grand-daughters; Karmen Nemirovski, Brigitte Farrell, Emma Farrell. He will also be missed by Nikolai Nemirovski, Justin Farrell and Richard Balfour. Paul is in the thoughts of his sisters and brothers-in-law; Madeleine and Michel Jolin, Jacques and Jocelyne St-Pierre, Jean-Guy and Lisette St-Pierre, Jacqueline and Romeo Hardy, Gisele and John Barclay, Monique and Rene Moreau, Gilles and Monique St-Pierre, Gaston and Joanne St-Pierre, Sylvie and Pierre Montambeault; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jean-Paul will forever be held in many hearts.

Church services will be held at St. Ann Parish Catholic Church at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 6th, 2019, 1296 Main St, Penticton BC, V2A 5G2.
A celebration of life will follow at Penticton Golf & Country Club from 2:30 PM- 4:30 PM, 600 Comox St, Penticton, BC V2A 2C1.
