Obituary of Jack Brocklesby
September 10, 1934 – June 13, 2019
Jack Brocklesby passed away peacefully at Prairie Lake Seniors Community in Grande Prairie on June 13th, 2019.
Jack was born in Consort Alberta and grew up in Kerrimuir, Alberta. He made his way to the Peace Country in 1956 settling in Grande Prairie. There he met his wife Margaret; they were married in 1960 and spent four years in Edmonton before returning to Grande Prairie in 1964.
Jack divided his time between working in Grande Prairie and farming with his father-in-law in Northmark, Alberta. Jack had a lifelong interest in horses, he enjoyed trail riding and participated in a trail ride from Grande Prairie to Jasper in the 70’s. He also competed in Heavy Horse pull with his Percheron horses, harness racing with Standard breds, and team penning. Jack had many horses that he broke and trained himself.
Jack was predeceased by his parents William and Winnifred, his wife Margaret, and brother Bill.
Jack leaves to mourn his son Eric (Lynne), and daughter Jackie (Noel); grandchildren Kendra, Austin and Ian and great-granddaughter Isabella.
Jack will be laid to rest at the Northmark Public Cemetery on August 17, 2019. A Time of Remembrance for friends and family will be held at the Grande Prairie Legion, 9912 101 Avenue, Grande Prairie on Sunday August 18th at 2:00 p.m.
