Obituary for
Emily Petryk (nee Tarapaski)
It is with honour and sadness in our hearts we announce the peaceful and dignified passing of Mrs. Emily Petryk, on the morning of August 15, 2019, at the age of 95 years.
Emily will be remembered with great love by her son, Len Petryk (Barb); daughters, Sharon MacLean and Varya Petryk Youzwyshyn (Gord); two grandsons, Zachary and Reid Petryk of Norway; beloved sister, Anne Missouri; brothers, Marshall (Helen), Borden and Walter (Josie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and her friends at the Cathedral.
Emily was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, William (Bill); daughter, Patricia; son-in-law, Dick MacLean; brothers, Peter and Mike (Lily); beloved sister, Sophie Bow of Calgary; sister-in-law, Donna; and brother-in-law, Peter Missouri.
Emily was a member of the UCWA for 35 years. She also volunteered her services making pyrogies, serving at the Church hall, making communion bread, and by visiting parishioners in hospital.
A special thank you goes to the caregivers at Unit 9Y of the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre and Kensington Shepherd’s Care Assisted Living.
Divine Liturgy Wednesday, August 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 10825 – 97 Street, Edmonton. Cathedral Clergy officiating with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Alberta and Northwest Territories, #306, 10430 – 61 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, T6H 2J3.
