Doug Matchett passed away early Monday August 26th, 2019 at the age of 76. Born September 10, 1942 in Milford Bay- Monk Township. Beloved husband of 51 years to Mary Lou Matchett. Cherished Father to Martin Matchett (Angie) and Ivy Cameron. He was dearly loved by grandchildren Kayla and Kenny Matchett, and Spencer and Russell Cameron. Devoted brother-in-law to Harold & Pauline Dawson, Ken and Barbara Dawson, Don (predeceased) and Donna Dawson, Cliff and Brenda Dawson, John and Lenore Dawson, and Margaret and Merl Bodenham. Caring brother to Raye and Steve Matchett (Sharon). Uncle to so many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. He was an incredibly involved and caring father, mechanically gifted and a talented musician. Doug played for many years in a band; Bill Meeks and the Party Gang, with whom many great memories were made. Later in his life, Doug worked at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital as a maintenance mechanic. We would like to express our appreciation to all the dear friends and extended family that provided Doug with support and fellowship. Thank you also to Dr. Cross and the loving care of the staff at the Pines.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pines Long Term Care Home, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Alzheimer’s Foundation, CINB or a charity of your choice. Service details to be determined.
