Donald Comrie

Donald James Comrie was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on November 4th, 1933 and died peacefully on Sunday, August 25th, 2019 in the care of the fine physicians and medical professionals of Grey Nuns Hospital and the Rutherford Heights Retirement Residences.
Don was predeceased by wife, Lois Pearl Andersen and parents, Harold Gordon Comrie and Mary Margaret Wolf.
He is survived by four children: Steven Douglas Comrie and Melissa Anne (Swain) Comrie of Salt Lake City, Utah; Richard Allan Comrie of Edmonton; Jacqueline Gay (Comrie) Wright and David Wright of Calgary; Terri Lynn Comrie Davey of Calgary; sister, Joan Valens of Edmonton; 9 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Don’s vocation was Comrie Sewing Machine Service, but his passion was for restoration of classic and collectible automobiles including Hudson’s, Nash’s, Lincolns, Mercury’s and Fords. He was an exceptionally talented fabricator and artist who could draw, paint and build everything from Dune Buggies to boats, travel trailers, machine tools, and for his grandchildren, self-propelled miniature airplanes. As a young father, Don coached his son’s hockey teams and enjoyed camping and boating with his family. We are comforted by faith in Don’s joyful reunion with Lois and family on the other side of the veil.
A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 4820 Meridian Street NW, Edmonton. Interment at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Sherwood Park.
Memorial donations in memory of Don may be made to Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, 10430-61 Ave. NW, #306, Edmonton, AB, T6H 2J3.
