On August 19, heaven gained an angel that had already earned her wings on Earth. Teresa (TC) Dellar passed away after a two year battle with cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband, Gavin Fernandes, and her two cherished sons, Jonathan and Nicholas. She lived for them and was so proud. She is survived by her parents, Leonard and Barbara Dellar as well as her siblings Mike (Claire), Lois (James), Howard (Diane), and Mary (Sean). She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Conor, Liam, Sarah, and Jenny, her in-laws Raie, David (Huiwen), and many cousins and friends. She loved family events and people lit up when she was around.
We are so grateful to all the friends who helped through the long sickness: cooking, cleaning, dog-walking, sitting with her, counselling her, loving her. There are too many to mention because everyone loved her and wanted to help. She appreciated it and rest assured, she loved you too.
The loss will be felt both locally and abroad by colleagues, as Teresa was the co-founder and Director of the West Island Palliative Care Residence and the Montreal Palliative Care Institute. She was also associated with the Montreal Irish society Foundation, and previously Loyola High School, Becket Players, West Island Prostate Support group, McGill Palliative Care Council, and many others.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Basilica, 460 René-Lévesque W., Montreal H2Z 1A7, on Tuesday, September 3rd at 2 p.m. The celebration of her life will follow from 5-9 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel Montreal Airport, 800 Leigh-Capreol, Dorval H4Y 0A4. Please consider wearing some pink for both events. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Teresa’s memory to the West Island Palliative Care Residence.
