It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of David Charles Kirkland on Saturday, August 3, 2019, age 69. Predeceased by his parents, George and Josephine Kirkland; sister Judy; and sister-in-law Mary. Left to mourn with many cherished memories of being a devoted husband, father and grandfather are his loving wife and best friend, Lynda Hayward-Kirkland; children: Blair (Anne), Ian (Krista) and Gemma Hickey (Rebecca Rose); grandchildren: Nathan and Ryan; sister, Carol Ann (David Blackmore); brothers: George, Robert (Joan), Richard (Lorraine), Jerry (Edwina), Gary (Dallas); sisters-in-law: Mary (Ron Smith), Marg (Don Russell), Debbie (Jack Power), Paula (Ron Alcock); brothers-in-law: Jim Hayward (Tish), John Hayward (Pam), Tony (Barb); special friends: Mary Connolly, Bill and Bern Stoyles, Jack Halliday, Jim Fox, Greg Furlong, Harold Squires and a very large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. David was a proud Gonzaga Gentleman and lived his life to the fullest, especially when it came to playing soccer, hockey, basketball and softball. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, St. John’s, Monday and Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Galway. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the SPCA.
