Augusta Whelan
1941-2019
Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family
on Tuesday, August 6, 2019; Augusta Whelan (nee Yetman) age 77
years.
Predeceased by
her husband, Fred Whelan and her twin sister, Monica Yetman (Bill
Hynes, deceased); parents, Augustine and Anastasia Yetman, brother,
Ray Yetman & sister Mary St. Croix, nephew, John Allen and
niece, Janet; in-laws, Raymond and Annie Whelan, Rev. Fr. Bert and
John.
Left with fond
and loving memories are sisters: Barbara (Tom) Martinovic, Bertha,
& Jacinta O’Connell (Phil deceased), brothers: Harry (Margie),
Gordon (Patsy), Aubrey (Marjorie) & Tom (Barb); in-laws Tom
Whelan (Dr. Fiona O’Shea), Ellen Nesdoly (Eli-deceased) and
Joan Whelan (Fred Taylor). She had a close and loving relationship
with her “grandchildren”- Emily and Laura Hynes,
Peter and Liam Hynes along with her many beloved nieces and nephews.
She leaves a large circle of family and friends, especially Gerry and
Rhonda Hynes, Annie Bruce, her Bridge Club and her kind neighbourhood
friends.
She will be remembered for her humour, her grace and
strength, and her strong sense of community. Special thank you to Dr.
Ross Penney, the staff of Placentia Health Care, her sister Jacinta
and her niece, Jane (Whelan) Hynes for their care and kindness.
At Augusta’s request, cremation has taken place.
Viewing at Maher’s Funeral Home on Friday, August 9 from
2-5pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be at 10:30am, Sacred Heart
Church, Placentia, followed by inurnment at Mount Carmel Cemetery,
Placentia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gathering
Place or the Placentia Area Food Bank.
