Audrey Bryson O’Brien Thursday August 15th 2019

Thursday August 15th 2019
Mrs. Audrey Bryson (nee O’Brien), age 93 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by love in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Thursday, August 15, 2019.
Audrey was born in Smith Falls, Ontario on August 8, 1926. She was raised and educated in Montreal. In 1949, Audrey met the love of her life, William “Bill” Bryson, and after a six week courtship they were engaged. They were married on September 24, 1949 and together they created a warm and loving home. Audrey was a beautiful woman, devoted wife and a caring mother. She was a fierce card player and taught all of her grandchildren to place Deuces, “trying” to teach them how to win – but somehow managing to have all the good cards, always splashing at the end. Cards was her way of connecting as a family and it was about being together. She celebrated her children and grandchildren’s successes and always encouraged them to reach their goals. She never missed an opportunity to build up her family and celebrate all of their accomplishments. Audrey enjoyed family gatherings and was happiest when they were all together.
Their life in Chapleau was full of love and laughter. Audrey made friends easily and her outgoing personality made it easy for her to keep many lifelong friendships. She was involved in curling and never missed a card game. Her competitive yet kind nature allowed her to have fun – but still win!
She was a woman of very strong Catholic faith and a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She never missed a daily rosary or Mass on her iPad.
In her 10 years living in Jasper Place she kept her social life, attending as many events as she could and making many more friends along the way.
Audrey is survived by her children Bob (Claudette), Terry (Diane), Kathy (Ian) MacDonald, Dan (Ruthann Francis), Tim (Tammy), Mary (Al) Wilkinson and Colleen (Mike Lavoie); grandchildren: Stacey (Brent), Tracey (Mike), Michael (Amy), James (Jazzmine), Laura (Adam), Brendan (Alex), Patrick, Benjamin, Megan, Lisa (Jake), Alisha, Adam, Leann (Cole) and Matthew; great grandchildren: Jonathon, Tyler, Skyla, Jayden, Olivia, Ava, Ethan, Will, Everett, Abel, Logan, Emily, Jack and Mia. Also survived by her sisters, Margaret Hopkins, Betty Beaton, Viola O’Brien and Marlene Dumont; sister in-law Gail O’Brien as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Bill; grandson Ryan and brother Peter O’Brien. .
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Audrey Bryson will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 10:30am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James with Fr. Jerin Louis officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Cemetery.
