Arlene Palmer Budd

M. Arlene Palmer (Budd)
1935-2019
In the early morning hours of Wednesday,
August 21, 2019, M. Arlene Palmer (Budd),
84, of Amherst, passed away peacefully, in Cumberland Regional Health
Care Centre.
Born in Indian Mountain, NB, she was the
daughter of John and Nita (Rogers) Budd.
Arlene raised a family of four while
working in administration. She eventually returned to school to become
a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and she worked in Health Services
until she retired. Bob’s career took her all over Canada and
abroad. She used to say that living in Sri Lanka was like being a
pioneer. A few of her adventures there included experiencing a monsoon
that devastated part of their home, and chasing snakes and elephants
out of the backyard! Arlene had a true appreciation for
nature, animals, and the outdoors. She and Bob portaged through the
bush in Northern Quebec, fly fished the Miramichi, and enjoyed many
years at their camp in Tommy Lake, Annapolis Valley. She loved telling
her story about the whales in Hawaii, and when it came to politics or
almost any sport, you’d better know your stuff, as she was
always up-to-date and not afraid to speak her mind!
In recent years, Arlene lived in Amherst
NS, with her furry companion Cassie and was very close with her best
friend Denise.
Arlene is pre-deceased by her mother and
father, her husband Robert (Bob), and her siblings Mildred Biggs, Joan
Mayer, Raymond, Leonard, and John.
Arlene is remembered and celebrated by
her children, Jeffrey, Aaron (Heather), Lisa and Robert (Bridget); her
grandchildren; and her siblings Audrey Melanson, Ronald Budd (Lennie)
and Albert Budd (Marylou).
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
Street, Amherst, NS. Respecting Arlene’s wishes, there will
be no funeral or visitation. A private graveside service will be held
at the Birch Hill Cemetery in Berry Mills, NB.
The family extends their sincere thanks
to all the staff at the Cumberland Hospital and VON, for their
amazing care and kindness.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes
may be made directly to the SPCA or The Heart and Stroke
Foundation.
Sharing of memories and condolences may
