Mary-Lou (Hughes) Shirley
1938-2019
Suddenly at the DECH surrounded by family on July 25, 2019 Mary-Lou
Shirley of Minto passed away in her 80th year. Born August 2,1938
only daughter of the late Otto and Harriet Hughes of Barkers point
Fredericton NB.
Her career in the medical field took her to many places. She graduated
from MMHS in 1956, Carleton Memorial school of nursing in 1960 which
included studies at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and UNB
Fredericton class of 1998 with her Bachelor of Nursing. She spent her
time on the Minto ambulance, Minto hospital, Extra Mural, C&M
footcare and working at the Fredericton medical clinic with her
daughter and granddaughter.
She was a wonderful and beloved mother to Lynne (Danny) Allen, Pam
(Murray) Knox, Debra Shirley. Grandchildren Matt (Amanda) Knox, Mandi
(Jamie), Kristen Boudreau, Rachael (Martin). Great Grandchildren
Marshall, Piper, Dawson and very special friends Henry and Blanche
Daamen and special Companions Luna and Lilo.
She was Predeceased by husband Richard Shirley and son in law Russell
Miller.
In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and a private service
will be held at a later date. For those who wish donations can be
made to the SPCA or the Extra Mural Program
