Mahoney, Alvin Robert
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin, in his 80th year. He left peacefully on July 25, 2019 in the comfort of home and surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle with cancer.
Alvin was born on June 29, 1940 to parents John Mahoney & Pacifique Lariviere on their farm in Fieldville, Quebec. He was the youngest of 12 children. The Mahoney clan were an immensely close family & supported each other always.
He married the love of his life, Lorna (Brennan) on September 2, 1961. They enjoyed 58 years together.
He was always a kind, patient, gentle & loving father to his children, Stephanie (Andy Roche), Shelley (deceased 2005)(Paul Campbell) and Stephen (Francine). A dear and doting grandfather to 7 grandchildren Sabreena and Kieran Charlebois, Hailey Campbell, Joshua, Megan, Shane and Sarah Mahoney.
Survived by his loved sisters; Madonna Sullivan (late Hubert) Louise (Lorne) Milani, Claire Robitaille (late Pierre). He was pre-deceased by his beloved siblings; Anne Brennan, Florence Brennan, Daniel, Francis, Wilbert and Gerard (Shirley), Evelyn Coyle and Bertha Gannon. Dear friend and brother-in law to Mervin (deceased) (Shirley) Brennan, Irvin Brennan (Carolyn) and Eleanor (Roger) Simard. Alvin was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. They will all miss his kind and patient ways.
The family is forever grateful for the medical care that supported us in keeping Alvin at home. Especially Janet from Bayshore Home Care and Dr. Lindsay Flinn.
Friends may visit at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, between Bayshore and Baseline Rd. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Parish, 685 Walkley Road, Ottawa on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. Those wishing may make donations to Hospice Care Ottawa or the Ottawa Hospital Foundation Oncology Unit.
