Stephen Ranich Friday June 21st 2019

Stephen Ranich passed away on June 21st, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Villa at the age of 88 years. His final days were spent surrounded by his loved ones with great remembrances about his wonderful life and telling us how he was looking forward to again being with his beloved wife of 68 years Christine “Tena” ( nee Wetow) and baby daughter Patricia both predeceased. He is survived by his children William (Bonnie), Daniel (Elizabeth), Steven (Miriam) and Christine (Carl Hurst) grandchildren Jake (Zorisa), Amber (Michael), Caitlin (Neil), Ryan, Ashton, Brittany (Taylor), Mercedes (Evan), Richard, Meredith and precious great-grandchild Marcus. Predeceased by his parents, Julia and Andrew Ranich, sister Ann and John Miatello, parents-in-law Pauline and Anthony Wetow, brother-in-law Bill and Doreen Wetow. Survived by his sister Emily and Ed Lukie. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Stephen retired from INCO as an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor I.O.R.P. in 1991. He was President of the Riverside Playground Assoc. from 1960-1968. He proudly established the only Olympic size outdoor rink in Sudbury at that time. He was an inaugural member of R.C.S.C.C. Admiral Mountbatten Sea Cadets established in 1943, as well as a founding member of the Mountbatten Alumni. He was proud of his sons following his footsteps in also becoming members of the Sea Cadet Corp. He belonged to the Fairway Golf Club as well as the Idywylde G.C.C. He taught his children to play both golf and curling. He was proud of his daughter’s Presidency of the Idywylde and all had shared wonderful days spent at the Club. Treasured time was also spent fishing and playing tennis at the family camp as well as hunting with his Gang. He travelled extensively with his family internationally.
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff of St. Joseph’s Villa. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Interment in the family plot in the Lasalle Roman Catholic Cemetery will take place at a later date. In Stephen’s memory if you wish, you may make a donation to a charity of your choice.
