Born on December 10, 1946, Phil died peacefully on June 25, 2019, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Linda Elaine (nee Stephens). Loving father of William (Amanda), Stephen (Cindy) and Tamara (Paul). Cherished grandfather of Emma Elkerton, and Nathaniel, Samuel and Gabriel Elkerton, and Sierra and Dylan Elkerton, and Alysha, Andrew and Daniella Archibald. He will be missed by his mother-in-law Mildred Stephens (nee Aikins), his brother-in-law Robert Stephens (Irene) and his sister-in-law Heather Robertshaw (nee Stephens). He is predeceased by his father-in-law Lorne Stephens, sister Betsy Bowers, his brother-in-law John Robertshaw, his niece Joan Bowers and his nephews Patrick Bowers and John Robertshaw. Uncle of Bonnie (Gary), Andrew (Noella), Gordon (Theresa), Victoria, and Christine and Jennifer (Eddie), and George (Jennifer). Phil grew up near Bloor and Sherbourne in Toronto and attended Rose Avenue school located in the centre of St. James Town and then attended Central Tech School. Phil loved being with his family in Florida and at Carriage Hills. He was a kind, generous, gentle and humorous man who navigated all the challenges of his life with a loving and genuine nature and with unwavering devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren. Phil will be loved, deeply missed and forever remembered. A Celebration of Phil’s Life will be held at the St. Margaret Anglican Church New Toronto at 156 Sixth Street in Toronto, on Saturday, July 6th from 1-4.
