Obituary of Mary Ellen Thompson
THOMPSON (LOVELACE), Mary Ellen age 97 of Elmsdale formerly of Enfield and Sydney passed away at home surrounded by family on June 9, 2019.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Jessie (Cameron) Lovelace. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mary was trained as a nurse in the City of Sydney Hospital. She worked in Ottawa and Sydney as a nurse and worked for over 20 years in the Enfield Post Office. She was treasurer, Sunday School teacher and superintendent for the United Church in Enfield as well as a member of the Ladies Aid in Enfield.
She will be sadly missed by son, Chip (Yvonne) Thompson, St. Thomas, ON; daughter Jean (Reg Hurshman) Thompson, Elmsdale; daughter in law, Shirley Thompson; grandchildren, Todd, Shelley (Anselmo), Sarah (Joe), Mary Catherine (Allan Jr.); great grandchildren, Emily, Noah, Ben, Hunter, Liam and Carlie. She was also Oma to Matthew, Genevieve, Lexi, Noah and Lily.
She was predeceased by husband, Wallace; son, Brian; brothers, James, Fred, Donald (Rusty) and Gordon; sisters, D. Bertha (infancy), Dorothy and Jean.
Cremation has taken place, no funeral by request. A private family committal service will be held at a later date.
