Edwin’s Obituary
Perry, Edwin Russell-93 of Ingomar, passed away peacefully at Roseway Hospital on June 15, 2019 with his family by his side. Born in Roseway on October 30, 1925 he was a son of the late Abraham and Adora (Gooding) Perry. He spent his early years in Roseway and later moved to Ontario where his brother Lewis was living and worked on a farm. He then returned home to Round Bay and turned to fishing. He was a fisherman all of his life until injuries forced him to retire. He was an avid gardener and tended his garden until 90 years of age. In his early days he loved to hunt the deer and rabbits and in later years he loved to feed them. After mom passed away he tried to keep her flower gardens going and also to feed the birds that she had coming and attempted his hand at cooking, which he did not do too bad of a job. He was a carver, carving many ducks and loons which he sold at roadside to local tourists. He enjoyed time spent in the woods and outdoors in general, bike riding until the age of 91. He enjoyed his music and that of others, always attending the Ingomar Concerts. He was predeceased by his wife, Mabel Ellie (Anderson); brothers, Kenneth and Lewis Perry, and granddaughter Meagan Holden. Edwin is survived by his children, Janet (Tony); Nancy; Deborah (Bobby), all of Shelburne; Wendell (Kelley), Ohio; Eddie (Gina), Round Bay; and Alice (Bob), Port Clyde; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mona Goulden; Vida Wright, and brothers, Vernon and Gordon Perry. Edwin (Dad) will always be remembered for his quick wit and many stories which he shared with his family during his lengthy hospital stay. He enjoyed the card games at his bedside until he could no longer play. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 18 from 7-9 pm in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne where the service will be held on Wednesday, June 19 at 2 pm with Rev. Ed Trevors officiating. Interment in Ingomar cemetery following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the VON, Shelburne County, Shelburne Hospital Auxillary Fund or charity of choice. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Keeler for his continued care and support as well as Dr. Gillis and Tracey Smith, Palliative Care Team, and Roseway Hospital Staff for their enduring care.
