1919-2019
Dorothy L.
Dixon, 100 years of age, of Port Howe, passed away
peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the North Cumberland Hospital,
Pugwash, NS. Born in Riverview, NS, Dorothy was the daughter of the
late Alexander and Mary (Dickie) MacKay.
Dorothy was a teacher for 35
years. Dorothy was heavily involved with St. Andrews
Presbyterian Church, She was treasurer for over 50 years at St.
Andrews Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Eastern
Star. She was a very gentle and kind hearted woman
who opened her home to everyone.
Dorothy will be sadly missed by her
daughter, Genelle Handy (Bill) of Alliston, ON; grandchildren, Patti
Handy of Barrie, ON, Angela Shtohryn (Paul), Missouri, Tarra
Handy of Alliston, ON; great grandchildren, Emma, Alaina, Jace,
Matthew, Kessa, Dylan, Jonathan, Olivia, sister, Shirley Fortier
(John) of Port Howe, NS, several nieces and nephews, dear friends,
Mark Stevens & Bill Marshall.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband, Ray, brother, George, sisters, Mildred Dixon, Amy
MacKay, Marjorie Alderman.
Arrangements are under the care and
direction of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60
Water St. (902-447-2167). The family will receive visitors on
Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.. Funeral service
will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church, Oxford, NS on Thursday,
July 4, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial
will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
