Doris Mary Doe Ippolito Warren Wednesday June 26th 2019

Ippolito, Mary Doris “Doe” (nee Warren)
July 8, 1932 to June 25, 2019
Embraced by her loving family, Doris passed away peacefully on June 25th. Pre-deceased by her parents and infant daughter Joanne (1954), she is survived by her husband Alphonso, her sister Judy Howatt, brother Wayne Warren, brother-in-law Anthony (June), sister-in-law Nellie, nephews Bill Dika and Gary Dika, and niece Laurie Bradford along with their extended family members.
Doris was born on July 8, 1932 in PEI. Although she remained a staunch Maritimer, she left the East Coast in 1951 relocating to Hamilton. Here she met her lifelong companion Alphonso, joining him in marriage in 1953. They shared their lives generously with many friends, including 13 godchildren, all of whom had a special place in their hearts, none more than Rick Dougay who became Doris and Al’s guardian angel during the latter years when their health deteriorated.
Strong willed and determined, always with her devoted Al by her side, Doris lived her life large. She certainly was not shy about expressing her opion or offering unsolicited advice. Her strong sense of duty and voluntarism served as an example to many, right to the end of her life. Guided by an irrepressible faith, Doris provided strong leadership to the Charismatic Renewal of the Catholic Church for over twenty years. Initially employed as the bookkeeper of St. Patrick’s Church, Hamilton, Priests and parishioners alike relied on Doris for being the backbone of the Church. Forty years of selfless devotion brought Chapel Ministry to the patients of St. Peter’s Hospital. In 2011 Doris received a Certificate of Achievement from Hamilton Health Sciences for 5000 hours of dedication, continuous efforts and volunteer service at local hospitals.
Doris led a simple life, indulging in simple pleasures. She loved to travel, shop, decorate her home for every occasion, enjoyed good food and entertained family and friends generously. Every telephone conversation ended with “luv ya”! In her own way she made the world a better place. Doris will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
As requested by Doris, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church on Tuesday July 2 at 9:30 am with interment at a later date.
“Luv Ya”, Doris!
