LANGILLE, Doreen Syrina
Age 93, of Pugwash and Gulf Shore, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2019 at East Cumberland Lodge (John 14:1-6). Doreen was the daughter of the late Edward and Ethel (Williams) Sarson. She is survived by son Everett Langille (Jayne Rockwell), Gulf Shore; daughter Ethel Langille Ingram (Don Ingram), Halifax/Gulf Shore; grandsons Daniel (Danielle) Ingram, Manitoba, and Jason Bonnyman, Ontario; granddaughters Emily Jenkins (Gareth), Halifax, and Megan Gill (David), North Carolina; six great grandchildren; and her sister Eva Polley, Pugwash. Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Ernie Langille, brother Ivan Sarson, sister Lois Lockhart and step-mother Margaret Sarson. Doreen was strong and courageous, as a young farm wife on the Gulf Shore, and later as a widow with failing vision living independently in Pugwash. She enjoyed baking, knitting, quilting and crocheting, and delighted in sharing her efforts with others. Doreen attended Wesley St. Matthew’s United Church and was a member of Silver Spray Rebecca Lodge No 1, Pugwash and the Order of the Eastern Star, Wallace. She loved to sing and read. After her vision failed she still participated in choirs as she memorized many hymns; and, she went from reading to listening to talking books. In her 90s she still loved to sing and even danced the occasional jig. Doreen’s family will forever be grateful to the VON workers who cared for her in Pugwash, and later, the staff at East Cumberland Lodge. They were kind and compassionate well beyond their job responsibilities. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 5, 2019 at St. Andrew’s United Church, Fox Harbour, followed by internment and reception. Rev. Connie McNamara officiating.
