Phyllis Doreen Talbot
1941-2018
Phyllis Doreen Talbot – 77, Truro, passed away
peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Colchester East Hants
Health Centre, Truro, with her family by her side. Born in Middleboro,
Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late George C. and Marion
(Mitchell) Miers.
Her family moved to Truro in her early years and Phyllis
graduated from Central Colchester High School and The Maritime College
of Pharmacy in Halifax. She worked for four years in the pharmacy at
Halifax Infirmary and after moving to Truro in 1966, she worked for
three years at the Colchester Regional Hospital Pharmacy when she and
Bruce decided to start their family. She was a member of Saint
Andrew’s United Church, Truro and the United Church Women
for which she was given a life membership in 2017; she was also a
former president of Truro Kinettes. She had a great interest in her
grandchildren’s activities, her cats, Toronto Blue Jays,
traveling and bead crafting.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Bruce, and they were
blessed with their children, Krista (Russell) Henderson, Jan Talbot,
Jason Talbot; grandchildren, Madison and Jill Henderson, Zachary and
Levi Talbot; brother, Perry Miers; sister, Shirley Belyea;
brother-in-law, Keith Talbot; aunt, Rhoda Thompson. She was also
blessed with many great friends throughout her life.
We offer many thanks to Dr. Frank Slipp and the hospital
staff for their guidance and support and to Keith Selwyn-Smith for his
many visits.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Phyllis’ family
will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
Honouring Phyllis’ request, there will be no funeral
service. Graveside service and interment will
be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2019, at Seaview Cemetery,
Pictou; all are welcome to attend. If so
desired, donations in Phyllis’ memory to a charity of choice
