The death occurred, peacefully and with family at his side, at the QEH
on Thursday, May 29, 2019 of Michael James Connolly, age 91 years.
Beloved husband of Doreen (Dufour) and dear father of Philip (Debye),
Maureen, Brian (Wendy), Joellyn, Katherine, Colleen, Paula (Tim),
Terri, Michael (Tina): stepfather of Karlyne (Dave) and Scott (Teri).
Loving grandfather of Krista, Jenna, Becca, Angela, Cody, Timmy, Amy,
Marla, Chelsea, Brandon, Kyle, Kirk, Sean, Lee, Grace, Owen, Claire,
Max, Noel, Ethan, and Ella. Great grandfather of 9 who will miss him
dearly. Brother of Charlie (Jeanette), Bernice (Ted), Eileen (Tom),
Mildred (Al), and Patsy (John). Predeceased by his parents Jim and
Helena (Ostridge), first wife Noreen (Coyle), sisters Mary (MacKenzie)
and Theresa (MacKinnon), and brother James (Marie). Mike served in the
Reserve Navy before returning home and working for the Canadian
National Railway for the next 43 years. He was an outstanding athlete,
excelling in hockey and softball, both as a player and coach, and is a
member of the PEI Sports Hall of Fame (softball). Resting at Belvedere
Funeral Home until Saturday at 11:45 then to St. Pius X Church for
funeral mass at 12 noon. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery,
Charlottetown. Visitation Friday 4-7 pm. Please, avoid perfumes due to
sensitivities. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to KIDSPORT or the QEH.
