Hermine Soucy June 18 1941 May 22 2019 (age 77)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Hermine Mary (Blanchard) Soucy announces her unexpected yet peaceful passing that occurred on Wednesday May 22, 2019 at her residence. She was born on June 18, 1941 in Piusville, PE, to the late Larry and Rose (Gallant) Blanchard and was the loving wife of 53 years to the late Conrad Soucy who passed away on May 19, 2013.
She leaves behind her sons Gary (Cherie) of Edmonton, AB and Steven Soucy of Willow Grove; daughter Rose Alderson (Dave Hayes) of Gabriola Island, BC; grandchildren Christopher, Daniel, Laurie, Michelle, Sean and Elaine; several great-grandchildren; brothers Fred Blanchard, Don Blanchard and sister Lorraine Blanchard; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sons Danny Soucy and Mike Soucy; grandson Clayton Soucy and sibling Clifford, Hubert, Louise, Anita and Norman; sisters-in-law Karen and Sandra.
She was employed for many years with Crosby’s Molasses and would also faithfully attend Bingo at Exhibition Park – both of which she made many lifelong friends.
When her kids were small, they remember their home being a revolving door as mom and dad would have friends over on the weekend to play cards, listen to music and dance. As the kids grew older they’d have their own parties which mom and dad would still partake in, singing and dancing to “Footloose”. She had a no drinking and driving policy so many friends would sleep over and mom would always make sure they were fed in the morning. She will always be remembered for her delicious home cooked meals made with the freshest of ingredients from our massive vegetable garden.
Hermine enjoyed many trips over the years, travelling to Las Vegas to see Shania Twain, BC to see Rose and a couple of tropical vacations with Rose and Dave. Hermine and Conrad celebrated their anniversary on a Hawaiian cruise. They were honoured with a standing ovation after dancing the Jive. As anyone who has seen them dance together – it was a thing of beauty.
We are all very thankful that Steve was able to live with mom over the last couple of years, maintaining the home and always making sure she had what she needed.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road with visitation being held on Saturday June 1, 2019 from 2-6 p.m. At her request there will be no funeral service. For those who wish, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
