It is with sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Alan Roy Waldie on May 17th, 2019 while enjoying his morning run.
Born in Watrous, Saskatchewan, Alan lived in many parts of Saskatchewan while growing up. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan College of Engineering with his BSc (Civil Engineering) in 1965 and then with his MSc in 1967. In 1966 he married Susan, his wife of almost 53 years. They have two children: Gord and Barb. In 1971 the family moved to St. Albert where they remain.
Alan was a partner in MB Engineering and then finished his career with Stantec, retiring in 2004. In retirement he enjoyed travelling, running, and spending time with family and friends. Alan was a long-time volunteer at St. Albert United Church, including many years singing in the choir.
Alan is survived by his wife Susan; children Gord (Patty) and Barb (MP Duxbury), 6 grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Brenda) and sister-in-law Marlene (Ted) and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial service will be Saturday June 1st at 1:00 pm at St. Albert United Church (20 Green Grove Drive). In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to St. Albert United Church, 20 Green Grove Dr., St. Albert, AB T8N 5H6 or The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 144, 5241 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton, AB T6H 5G8.
