Shirley Anne Butler
1941-2019
Shirley Anne Butler – age 77, of Cambridge, formerly of North
Alton, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in the Valley Regional
Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late
Arthur and Renna (Spinney) Spencer. Shirley had been employed with the
dietary department at the Nova Scotia Sanatorium, Miller Hospital and
the Blanchard-Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville. She enjoyed
crocheting, knitting, puzzles, playing bingo and picking high bush
blueberries. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and
friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is
survived by daughter, Marlene Fraser-Allen (Greg), Gypsum Mines;
daughter-in-law, Kim Butler, British Columbia; two sisters, Faye
(Murray) Ward, Coldbrook; Nancy (Mike) Ward, New Minas; brothers,
Garth Spencer (Betty) and David Keating, both of New Minas;
grandchildren, Peter and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Ryley, Ryan,
Kyle, Kayla, Kylee, Nikita, Brooklyn and Lily; many nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard “Dick”
and son, Todd. Cremation has taken place. There will be no
visitation, by request. A private family graveside service will take
place at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations
in memory may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or Valley
Regional Hospital – Pulmonology and Respiratory Care.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
