Maurice Mayhew Monday April 8th 2019

MAYHEW, Maurice – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maurice Mayhew relays news of his passing on April 8 2019, in Sturgeon Falls, at the age of 84. Predeceased by his beloved parents, Marguerite and Michael Mayhew, as well as his siblings: Marlene, Mickey, Muriel, Monica, and Marie. He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews: Richard (Johanne), Katherine (Kevin), Myra (John), and Michael (Brenda), among others. He will also be missed by his grand nieces and nephews: Emily, Benjamin, Sarah, Melissa (Calvin), Mark, David, Rachael, Douglas, Kandice, and Brent. Maurice never had children of his own, yet he raised many. Notably, he had an incredible bond with his nephew, Richard. Richard was Maurice’s right arm and Maurice was Richard’s rock. Maurice was a steam engineer at the local mill for over 40 years, and spent much of his off time outdoors, hunting, fishing, skiing, trapping, canoeing, and practicing archery. Even in his later years, Maurice spent every minute he could outdoors doing what he loved, including harvesting a deer last fall. Maurice was well loved and had many friends in the community. He was a kind, gentle, determined, and strong willed soul, who will be dearly missed by many. In lieu of flowers or donations, please feed the birds as Maurice has done every year for as long as we can remember. A celebration of his life will be held in the coming weeks at a date to be determined.
