Douglas Johnson Tait April 17 2019

Douglas Johnson Tait of Edmonton, Alberta was called home by his Heavenly Father on April 17, 2019. Our family feels a heavy sense of loss with his passing; however, we find much comfort knowing that his unceasing belief in God has led him Home, and that he is now reunited with his wife Millicent who passed away in 2014. Douglas will forever be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Grandad, Great Grandad, Uncle and Friend.
Douglas was born on February 26, 1926 in Bromley, England and immigrated to Canada in 1956 with Millicent and son, John, where together, they lay down roots in Edmonton, Alberta. Dad was a hard worker who took pride in everything he did. He enjoyed working for Silverwood’s Dairy. He then finished his career in 1987 with the Edmonton Public School Board.
He was a man of devout faith and enjoyed being involved in the Anglican Church, sharing in his faith and helping to lead many to the Lord. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and some of his favorite activities included camping, travelling, volunteering and helping loved ones with odd jobs.
Douglas was a caring man who would speak the truth from his heart, offering kind words of wisdom or tidbits of advice. He had an infectious smile that would light up the room, coupled with an amazing sense of humor. He loved to laugh and he did this often while partaking in special adventures and mishaps with family and friends.
Douglas had an unwavering faith, and to the very end he ensured us we all knew he was at peace with leaving us, knowing he knew going to be with his Heavenly Father and reuniting with loved ones who left before him. This has brought us all a great sense of peace and has been a pillar to lean on with his passing.
His memory will be cherished by his son John (wife Winnie), son Peter (partner Deanne), daughter Angela and son Doug (wife Donna), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doug also had many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends around the world who loved and cherished him. Douglas was predeceased in death by his wife Millicent (2014) and granddaughter Jessica (2009).
For those who wish to attend, there will be a final viewing on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Serenity Funeral Services located at 10129-Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton.
His Celebration of Life will take place on April 27, 2019, at 11:00 am. at Shepherds Care Kensington Church, located on the third floor at 12603 -135 Avenue, Edmonton.
Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery at 16310 Stony Plain Rd, Edmonton. The family wishes to thank Kensington Shepherds Care for providing Douglas with a residence that was so much more to him than simply a place to live. He felt genuinely cared for by the staff and he cherished the many friendships that he developed there.
May he forever rest in peace.
