Brian Joseph Morey
August 28, 1949 – April 24, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Brian Joseph Morey announce his passing at the Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the age of 69 years. Reunited once again with his lifelong partner his loving wife, Christine Morey. Also predeceased by his daughter Joanne Morey; parents Bernard and Theresa Morey; and deceased members of the Moran family. Leaving to mourn his son Ken and daughter-in-law Charlotte (Caine); daughter Sandy and son-in-law Colin Williams; his 4 grandchildren, Ella, Liam, Brett and Grant; brothers Bob Morey (Cathy), Steve Morey (Melba), Peter Morey (Sharon) and Paul Morey; sisters Margaret Parsons (Jack) and Sharon Healey (John); brothers-in-law Huey Moran, Bob Moran (Carm), Connie Moran (Kathleen), Derm Moran (Tilda); sister-in-law Catherine Moran; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Brian is remembered for the many years he worked in the auto mechanic industry. From his years at the old K Mart Garage on Torbay Road to Regatta Ford on Elizabeth Avenue to Avalon Ford on Kenmount Road and many other places in between. He especially enjoyed working in his own backyard garage where many a car had been fixed, some from an old part he had lying around, and where a bachelor party or two had been held. He will be forever missed by his family and friends. When asked how he was, his reply was always “I’m best kind”. He truly is “best kind” now.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Center, especially his social worker, Bonnie Hobbs who cared for him with nothing but thoughtfulness and kindness.
As per Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay, on Friday from 12 noon-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 10 a.m. from St. Michael’s Church, Flatrock. Inurnment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please tune up your car or check your oil or make a donation to a charity of your choice in his memory.
