Thelma Reimer 1932 2019

Obituary of Thelma Reimer
Reimer, Thelma – We had to say goodbye to our dear mother this Tuesday, March 26, 2019, after years of frailty and decline. She was wonderfully cared for by the tireless staff at UMH (United Mennonite Home). Once a vibrant character who loved to laugh and sing while she worked, mom enjoyed a life of devotion to family, love of God, and generosity to the Vineland community. A competent seamstress and self-appointed grammar teacher, mom ‘held down the fort’ at what was always 20 Rittenhouse Rd. Manager of the ‘Ed Reimer Show’, many of you can thank her for keeping dad on track so he could get your plumbing fixed.
A regular part of the church choir, her voice could make the angels blush – a gift well honed in her musical Penner family. A tender mother and grandmother, mom left a legacy of selfless love and kindness …and baked a mean cherry pie. She will be sorely missed.
Thelma is predeceased by her husband Edward Reimer, and sisters Erna (Abe) Friesen, and Marianne (John) Clairmont.
She is survived by her brothers Peter (Justina), and Corney (Sondra), and her sister Cathy (John Lerch), and leaves behind three children (Sylvia [Kerry], Rodney [Rowan], and Wesley [Vicky]), and four grandchildren (Zacary [Tamires], Sasha [Jonathan Woof], Christoff and Jaden).
Visitation will be held at Southridge Community Church-Vineland 3970 Glendale Ave, Vineland on Friday, March 29 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, March 30 also at the church at 11 a.m. Memorial donations in Thelma’s honour may be made to MCC (Mennonite Central Committee – mcccanada.ca) or Camp Crossroads – campcrossroads.com.

  1. I was checking the Penners on this obituary site and discovered Mrs Reimer’s photo and obituary. I am sorry to read of her debility, but I am happy she is now with God, where there is no suffering.
I remember seeing Mrs. Reimer at events shared by our area churches. I didn’t get to taste her cherry pie; but I know she was always cheerful and helpful and liked to sing.

Marilyn Penner – Marie’s daughter from Greenlane Rd.
